Isaac didn't potty train until we had it. I am sure there is a cheaper version, we got this one because we have an elongated toilet seat. Plus sooo much easier to clean than the floor potty.

The only wisdom I can pass on as far as potty training goes is that all my boys loved the cushioned seat you put on top of the regular seat.
