Two Quickies and a Bunch of Photos

I am so behind in blogging, but since Quinn is content in her highchair eating Cinnamon Life, I am going to try to get a little caught up.

Quinn continues to be very attached to the dog's leash. Yesterday, started with her whining for it, and ended with her using it as a comfort item. You see, last night at my mom's, she got really tired and fussy. I was sure she would scream the whole way home. Nope. She just held onto the dog leash, and was quiet and happy. She even fell asleep while I was rocking her still holding onto it. She loves that thing.

Quinn used to love to be held up in the air while we held onto her legs, and she balanced. Now if we try, she wraps her arms around our necks and says, "scared," when we ask her why not. Except she's not really that scared, because she loves the whole game of it. And immediately holds her arms up in the air for us to do it again and again after she declares she is scared.

Here are a bunch of pictures from last Wednesday, that I have been meaning to post. I am way behind. She is quite the ham these days.

"Think, think, Think..."

Peak-a-boo....

She is happy in the last picture, I promise. Just an action shot of the big reveal!

Thankgiving Comparison

(Don't worry, I have since washed the straps on her high chair. I can't believe how clean I got them with a simple washing. And how easy it was to get them on and off. I am now embarrassed I let them get so gross.)

We had a lovely Thanksgiving. Lots of food, family, and memories. We are so thankful for all these things, and all the great and wonderful things in our lives. Happy Thanksgiving!

Say Cheese

For a while now, we have been able to get Quinn to smile by saying, "show us your chompers." Adorable, and a crowd pleaser for sure. However, this weekend she has started to smile when you say, "smile." Big glorious, cheesy picture smiles. She is her mama's daughter for sure. And constantly reminding us she is no longer a baby, but a bonafide toddler.

In other Quinn news, she had a blast at McKay's birthday celebration on Monday night. She helped open presents, and stole his blue dino drink from him. She gave the drink her seal of approval by happily purring, "mmmmmm. mmmmm." as she drank it. She probably had the most fun playing with the baby in the mirror. My parents redid their bathroom, and the old mirror is temporarily in the living room. Quinn loved her new "friend." She kissed, played, and tried to repeatedly get to that other baby.

Piper and Quinn continue to have a classic dysfunctional love/hate relationship. Quinn mainly loves Piper. Piper mainly avoids Quinn. Except when Quinn is packing food. Then Piper loves Quinn. And Quinn love to tease and entice, but usually ends up sharing her food. Here is one such interaction.

Peak-a-boo!

Quinn is in a stage where she loves to scare and be scared. She loves to play peak-a-boo, run and hide, have you run and hide, and be chased. It is a lot of fun. She loves to fake being scared, and diving into your arms for a big hug. The other night we were visiting with our next door neighbor, Jan, and her partner, Bob. Bob was in the kitchen, she kept calling his name and inching down the hall until he would acknowledge her, so she could run and dive into my arms.

She also hid under the chair I was sitting on the other day.....

Where's Quinn?

Where's Quinn?

There she is.....

And then behind the drapes later that same day....

Boo!

Yes, Quinn is holding the dog leash. It is her favorite toy lately. She drags it everywhere with her, like a security blanket.

Sneak Peak and a Review

My mom won a free photo shoot from FotoFly! ( See past photo with them here and here.)They are in the process of expanding to Thanksgiving Point, and doing outdoor photos, and they were in need of some "test" photos of the new space. We were excited to be able to get family photos. However, they named the dates, and times, and they were very limited, so it ended up just being Dalan, Quinn, and me in the photos as nobody else was able to make it. Patti did come along for the photos, but refused to be in any of the pictures.

The photos turned our wonderfully, however, I was far less impressed with the Fotofly experience in the great outdoors. It is likely because the outdoor studio thing is new to them, but they were less patient with us than in studio, but expected us to be more patient with them. The pictures were suppose to ready the following Monday, but were not ready until Thursday. I know they were free, but we did rearrange our schedules to be there, and froze to get outdoor photos, but it seemed their attitude was, well, there are 1,000 other people (the number who entered the contest) who would trade places with you, so you are not that important. I would do indoor studio photos with them again, but I am sticking to Lazy Day Photography (See past photos with them here.) for our outdoor photos. The quality was the same, and they are so much more fun!

However, I am totally impressed with the photos, and so grateful that my mom let us have her winnings. We got Quinn's 18 month photos, and family photos for free! We are so lucky! I have already put together our Christmas cards with my very most favorites, so you can't see those yet. But here are some of my other favorites.

Half Birthday! (aka 18 months old)

Dear Quinn,

As of tomorrow you will closer to two years old than to one year old. I am sitting here, asking myself how did that happen? How is it possible that our tiny little 440 gram baby is a year and a half year old? Mind boggling. And amazing! And a little sad! And a lot wonderful!

Dad and I have decided that you have two alter egos. The first is the preemie princess. She is sweet, girlie, loves to give kisses and hugs, and is full of sugar and spice. The other is Quinn the Destroyer. She is bold, wild, opinionated, and knocks down everything in her path. I think each of these parts of your personality have and will get you far in life. Don't ever lose them.

Quinn, as an 18 month old, is.....

....an exclusive walker and runner. (It is a blessing and a curse.)

....a jabber box and mimicker. (You are using language more and more effectively. You say Dada, Mama, Piper, Bye Bye, Bath, Ball, No, Yes, Google, Coco, Go, Hey, Me, guy-guy Papa, Nana, WaWa (Water), among a bunch of other things.)

....a pointer and a doer. (You know your hair, nose, mouth, belly, and chompers. You can clap, and wiggle your fingers, wave, etc)

.....an animal lover. (You know the pig, sheep, tiger, owl, camel, snake, monkey, elephant, and fish sounds.)

....a toy player. (You love babies, dogs, blocks, your bike, amongst a bunch of other things)

.....a book reader. (You could look through books for hours.)

.....a better eater than ever. (You love yogurt, and meat.)

....a horrible sleeper, unless in bed with mom and dad. (You are a bed hog)

.... a youtube video watcher. (Will youtube even be around by the time you can read these on your own? Probably not.)

....a binkie girl. (i dread having to take it away.)

....a signer. (more, all gone, please, and thank you.)

....a mover. You never sit still. (Seriously never.)

.....a dancer. (You dance to commercials or anything with music.)

....a silly goose. (You will do anything for a laugh.)

....a giggler. (Sweetest things ever and totally contagious.)

....a problem-solver. (You figure out things that AMAZE us.)

.....a thinker. (You even tap your forehead when we say think, think, think.)

....beautifully petite with blue eyes and dark blonde hair. (See pictures)

....impossible to get a clear picture of (See pictures.)

....friendly, loving and sweet. (You give the best hugs and kisses!)

....curious. (You are always finding new things to get into and will usually try anything at least once.)

.....nuts. (Sometimes you are the wildest and craziest baby I have ever met!)

Happy Half Birthday! (These are a big deal around here....we celebrate as many birthdays as we can a year!) We love you so much! We think you are practically perfect, and are so excited that you have reached the very important age of 18 months!

loves!

This is why....

.....I often call Quinn, "Ali", and call Ali, "Quinn."

Ali probably outweighs Quinn in this picture, but I think they look so similar. What do you all think?
