Unbelievably Awesome

Three years ago, I got the worst phone call of my life. 13 day old Quinn was sick. Really sick, and they didn't think she was going to live. I remember driving to the hospital in slow motion. It was surreal, and scarier than I can describe. I remember telling Dalan that if she died, that I would basically die too. It was awful.

We got there, and Quinn instantly started to improve. Slowly, but surely. We were so lucky that day.  And it shows how strong and feisty Quinn has always been.

Today, three years later, I took that strong-willed little girl to get her photos done. She is still feisty, and we love her so much!

Bachelorette Party

We had Ali's bachelorette party here in town last weekend while the guys went off to Wendover. We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then went back to Ali's for games and drinks. Good times were had by all. I think silly nights with the ladies are the best.

Funnies

Quinn's language development has exploded over the last few months. It basically happened like this, I called for a speech therapy referral and BOOM, it took off. Is there someone I can call for a potty training referral so the same thing can happen?

Quinn had about six speech therapy sessions that certainly didn't hurt anything, but I don't know how much they helped either. Oh well, she loved her therapist and the structured play time was good for her. Quinn turned three, and no longer qualified for at home services. She could have possibly qualified for speech services in a main stream preschool in the fall, but there are no services available in the summer for her. So, we'll just see how her speech is going in the fall and go from there.

She has been saying some hilarious things lately.

1.  I'm a princess.
(This isn't so funny, but a testament to Disney's marketing. She has had no interest so far in princesses, but there is a commercial that says that line and she has picked up on it loud and clear.)

2.  Dalan: Quinn, please don't hang on the door knob.
Quinn:  But, I am a little monkey. Heh, heh, heh!

3.  Me:  Quinn, at Ali and McKay's wedding you are going to wear a pretty dress, and you get to throw flower petals. It will be so fun!
Quinn:  (who is obsessed with flowers). Yes!  But they will smell so good.

4.  Kid at park:  Hi, I'm Jett.
Quinn: Nice to meet you, boy.

5.  Monster Mike is green and has just one eye. Baby Boo is so cute and has two eyes.

6.  I see poop on the floor. A big mess on the floor. Out of Piper Jean's bum.

7. I'm a Stegosaurus. Dad is a Stegosaurus. Mom is a T-Rex.

8. Forgettin' somethin'. I know!  My pack pack.

9.  Go to the playground?  (Sad voice). I know, go to the playground tomorrow. Go to the store tonight.

10.  Quinn pulled my mom's Target card out of her wallet and said, "Target!"  And demonstrated how to swipe the card. Tonight while we were playing Candyland, she was turning all the cards in credit cards and swiping them.

March for Babies, 2013

The bad news- the weather was horrible! The worst it has been yet- rainy, wet, cold.

The good news- we still had a lot of friends and family show up to walk despite the horrible weather.

The great news- we had a lot of fun!

More great news- we raised nearly $2000 as Team Quinners for babies born too soon or sick!

We will be back next year!

Birthday Party

We had Quinn's third birthday party last weekend. It was a blast. We had a huge turn out of all our family and friends. Plus the weather was beautiful. It was a perfect evening.

We had a Minnie Mouse theme, and Quinn talked for weeks about blowing out the candles on her Minnie cake. She was blissfully happy when it came time to finally get to do it.

We had a blast with everyone, and were overwhelmed by people's generosity. It was so fun to visit, and watch the growing herd of children play together.

I unfortunately got almost no photos. So, I would love digital copies from anyone who snapped a few!

Quinn's Third Birthday

I was able to take the day off for Quinn's actual birthday. It was so much fun!  I am so excited to get to be a full time mom for the summer.

The night before her birthday, we ran some errands and then got a pre-birthday ice cream cone. Quinn decided she liked the cone the best, because it was, "kinda crunchy!"

After Quinn went to bed, I trapped her in her room with streamers and a couple of balloons. She was psyched to wake up to a "party," but wouldn't bust through the streamers and crawled under instead.

Next, we went and got Mommy-daughter pedicures. I was in dire need, and Quinn loves to get her nailed painted. It ended up taking forever, but Quinn was so good and patient. It was really fun, and something we will do again!

Then, we headed up the Long's for some lunch and some playtime with Keaton, Morgan, and Teagan. Quinn, of course, had a blast. We ended up pulling up to the house at Quinn's birth minute, so I snapped a photo. She was not amused.

We then came home and Quinn opened her presents from Dalan and me!  She got the Hello Kitty lotion she has been begging for, and a new trike. She tried very hard to pedal it. And told us, "I am going to keep trying. I am going to get better."  (Oh, and she is totally obsessed with her Minnie backpack- expect to see it a ton!)

We then had dinner and did cake and candles again.  Quinn loves blowing out her candles.

The rest of the evening was spent being silly and having fun. My parents stopped by, and Quinn stayed up late watching Monsters Inc. It was a great birthday.
