Weekend

We had a pretty mellow weekend, actually. Besides the pumpkin patch, we went to the park, played in the yard, went to a wedding reception, and visited with our families. We also relaxed, took some naps, and let Quinn watch some Follow That Bird (She is obsessed with all things Sesame).

Quinn is teething something terrible (four molars plus some other teeth, in fact) and has been a little whiny and grumpy. Poor girl.

She did have a blast at McKay's brother's wedding reception. She loved playing with all the other kids there. She was a little rough with Ross (Sorry!), and loved all the attention from Adri. I was a little blown away with how much Quinn really is no longer a baby. She was content to run around the gym with the rest of the kids. She looked just like a kid out there, and not a baby!

Here are some pictures from Saturday around the house and yard.

On a different note, people often compliment me/Quinn on her hair. They comment on how much hair she has, or how cute it looks in pigtails. I always say thank you, but assure them that doing Quinn's hair is a necessity, not just me trying to make her look cute. (Although, she does look adorable in her pigtails!)

And here is a picture to prove my point, Quinn's hair in the morning.

All the hair talk got me thinking to how bald she was last year around this time. Quinn was born with a ton of hair, and then it all fell out around her due date. I remember being so excited when she started to get some long wispy pieces. So, I did another comparison photo (I might be a bit obsessed with comparing).

Fun, fun, fun

We had another fun and busy day. I am going, to the best of my ability, take advantage of every summer day, and do fun activities with Quinn, Dalan, and all our loved ones!

Quinn slept from 7:45 pm to 8:15 am. I had to finally wake her up, so she would not sleep too much and get off her usually ideal sleep schedule. (9:30 pm to 9:30 am). I, however, woke up at 5:00 am and could not go back to sleep. Ironic.

Here is what Quinn looks like in the morning with her bed head, and when the flash on the camera blinds her....

Quinn and I then walked to the library. I have been trying to do this every week. It is literally around the corner from our house, and there are few things healthier for a family than exercise, fresh air, and books. Quinn loves the library, and books. I even got her an Elmo DVD, as she recently discovered him and developed an intense love for the red, furry guy.

We then went to Liberty Park to go Tracy Aviary with my mom. My mom and Quinn had never been there, Dalan hadn't been there since he was in elementary school, and I had gone a few years ago on a field trip. We were all so impressed. It has changed so much, and has so many new and nice exhibits.

Quinn loved the birds. We had her repeatedly and excitedly saying the "b" sound for bird by the middle of the trip. We got to see some Patagonia Burrowing Parrots up close and personal. Quinn just giggled and squealed. She also loved some quail-like birds we saw in the South America exhibit, and of course, she loved her spirit animal-the owls.

We then took Quinn over to the Seven Canyons Splash Park. We went from letting her get her feet wet to letting her full on splash. The girl loves to splash in the water. She also insisted on being pretty independent in the water, including standing solo with no hands in the wet, slippery water. She ended up being fine, but it made me a little nervous. I can't wait until she can stand reliably and consistently on her own. However, she has a blast.

We finished up the afternoon with corn dogs and glaciers at Millie's. Quinn fell asleep on the way home on the way, and we just brought her in the house in her car seat. She was very confused and grumpy for about 30 seconds when she woke up. Here is her grumpiest face....

Doc. Brown

Quinn had some crazy hair yesterday. It just stuck up all over the place after her bath. It is getting thicker and longer on top, and is starting to come in on the sides and the back. Although, we are still not sure what color it will be, it is for sure WILD!

(Dalan thinks Quinn looks terrified in this picture. )
(It was funny, because after each picture with Dalan, she would smile, so I would take another one, only to have her smile after the picture was taken!)

Answer

Ok, this is Quinn's head....

And this is Dalan's head....

But you have to admit, they look an awful a lot alike.

Also, Quinn's picture was originally taken to show off the crazy wispy pieces. But my mom noticed it looked just like Dalan's head. Here is another picture from that morning. Look at Quinnie's first morning of bed head. It was out of control. Well, as out of control as ten really long pieces can get.

Game! Dalan or Quinn?

My new favorite game....Whose head? Dalan's or Quinn's?

Samesies

People are saying that Quinn is looking more and more like me everyday....only time will tell if this is true or she ends up a mixture of her mom and dad. When she is "full term" I will post some baby pictures of the three of us for a proper comparison. However, I am pretty sure we are making the same exact face in our first "just the two of us" self portrait.

Look how huge my head is.....

And now for your viewing pleasure more cute pictures of the Quinners.....

Finally, just to show Dalan and I have not lost our sense of humor, here is a funny picture I took of us today.

Up and down and all around

Quinn had a bit of a rough day. I think she was just not feeling well from her immunizations yesterday. Poor baby. You could just tell she was not feeling that great, especially since she would not take her binkie. She was having a hard time keeping her saturation levels up, and our hearts broke for our wee babe. They had to come up some on her oxygen and give her some blood (which meant an iv in the head.....ouch!) We had to put off non-nutritive breast feeding for the day. However, progress is not lost, just a small set back.

Sleepy baby.
Snuggling with dad cures everything.

Zonked out

The good news is that she seemed to be feeling better this evening. She had a good visit with her grandparents, and a good snuggle with her mama. She sucked away on her binkie, and got to wear a super cute new outfit from her friend Adri. She looked adorable in her pink polka dot ensemble.

Look at my cute polka dots!

More new moves

Yesterday, shortly after we left from our afternoon visit, Quinn extubated herself. (She pulled her breathing tube out.) She is fine, and they got a new one in with no complications, except a little sore on her check from them having to take her old tape off in a hurry. What a crazy little baby. It just makes me shake my head in disbelief. I cannot believe the things she does, despite her tiny size. It is another good example of her mighty will. She has been hyper-aware of her tube since last week when they reintubated her, and I guess she just got a good hold on it. Let's all hope she does not do it again!

Quinn's sore cheek, and super cute new bow in her very light hair.

She also has been so cute, and doing funny little things with her hands. She makes us laugh on a daily basis.

This is what Quinn did when she was told, it was time to stop snuggling with dad, and get back in her isolette.

You've got to be kidding me!

And she is warding us off during her evening cares, Quinn recently has decided she is not a fan of getting her diaper changed.

"Leave me alone!"

We also got our first family self portrait. You know I love my self portraits!

Our little thumb sucker

Quinn is much more stable today. They still do not know what is the cause of her crash yesterday, except that she has some sort of infection. They are running tests, and more tests to try to figure out the root of all of this. The good news is she has been stable for over 24 hours, so keep sending your positive thoughts our way that Quinn continues to do well.

Quinnlet (as our favorite neonatologist calls her) started sucking her thumb today. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever! She has always had her hands up by her face since she was in my belly, and for the last week she has been really close to getting her hand/thumb into her mouth. Today she managed to get her thumb in mouth, and started sucking away. Usually I don't like thumb sucking, but in Quinn's case I'll make an exception. She needs something to soothe her in her little isolette, since her mommy and daddy can't be there to snuggle with her, and give her kisses. The nurse helped us accessorize Quinn and got a cute photo. The nurse also did an inking of her foot prints of us. Her actual foot prints are smaller than they scanned into the computer, so I put them up to some ordinary items...a quarter and a large paperclip... to make them more to scale.
