Weight Watchers Week 3

Weight loss: 1.6
Total weight loss: 9.6 (a disappointing .4 away from 10 pounds!)
Success: tracking, portion control, and self control with treats at Halloween.
Goals: still exercise. I wish I was a morning person and could easily get up and exercise. I did order a pedometer to track my steps. A small thing, but maybe it will motivate me to move a little more.

Swim Lessons

On Saturday, Alice and VaRonica, and Quinn and I finished up our four week Mommy and Me swim lessons. Dalan was nice enough to tag along and snap some photos. He did a nice job of getting some shots, and following the rules that they should not show case me in a swim suit.

Quinn, overall, did much better in these lessons than she did in the spring. She is a champion at kicking and blowing bubbles in the water. She is still more timid in the water than she is anywhere else in the world, and it catches me off guard every week. Alice loved the water and did a great a job, despite being the youngest kid there by far. It was also fun to get to do our first official cousin activity together.

I think my plan will be to put Quinn in the Mommy and Me classes one more time in the spring, and then do real lessons after she turns three in May.

Pumpkin Carving 2012

So, I typed up a huge post about pumpkin carving yesterday morning, and my phone lost it or something. Sad.

Anyway, on Friday night we went over to my parents' house for some dinner and some pumpkin carving. It was nice that all eight of us were at the same place at the same time. It isn't often that schedules work out that nicely.

The funniest part of dinner was when the rubber spider that was used to garnish the bean dip ended up in Cole's mouth after a bite. We decided it was like finding the baby Jesus in a King's Cake. Cole is now in charge of bringing the dip next year.

We then carved pumpkins. I GUTTED MY OWN PUMPKIN THIS YEAR! it may be a first. I also then drilled holes in it. That was a first for sure. We all had a good time. Dalan and Quinn painted their pumpkins and I covered one in glitter. Everyone did such a nice job. No award for the worst pumpkin this year!

I love this tradition.

Letters

Quinn loves letters and books! (And I love that Quinn loves letters and books.) She was given a Dr. Seuss alphabet book that is a must read at night. She wants to do her "ABCD's" all the time. She is a champ at knowing all the letter names. We are going to work on the sounds next.

Weight Watchers Week 2

Week 2 in review...

Weight loss: 2 pounds
Total weight loss: 8 pounds
Challenges: I was off work for four days, and therefore had more opportunity to snack and eat out.
Successes: meal planning, portion control, and healthy snacking.
Plan: really would like to start some exercise program, but what? And where do I squeeze it in?

Sunday Funday

We didn't do anything out of the ordinary yesterday, but it was a nice relaxing day and I got some cute photos of Quinn. She looked adorable in her skeleton jammies and in her Puma track suit. And she has been talking a lot more and just being over all adorable, including painting my mom's toenails with a blue crayon. (And her own face.)

We did flip her front facing in her carseat as she finally meets the weight requirements and age requirements for our carseats.

Forgot

I forgot to add the comparison photos to my last post. Here they are.

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, VaRonica and I took the girls to their swimming lessons. These lessons are less structured than the last ones we took, which means Quinn has more fun, but learns less. However, for a two year old, having fun is probably more important. Quinn still freezes by the end of the lesson. She tells me, "Cold. Burr." But, she says burr like berr. It is very cute.

We came back to our place, and let the girls eat and headed to the pumpkin patch. Ali and McKay joined us and it was a lot of fun. It was a warm afternoon, but windy. It got nicer after we left the patch.

Quinn liked picking out some pumpkins, but I think she would have preferred going to a rock patch instead. She loves rocks, and I have as many pictures of her carrying rocks as pumpkins.

Both girls loved the corn maze, and both emerged with cobs that they were eager to eat. Ha! Silly girlies.

I took over 100 pictures. Quinn was not as cooperative as she was last year, so I don't have as many good photos as I had hoped. I did (of course) did some comparison photos.
