12 for 12 (August)

Quinn woke up at 5 am this morning. She fell back to sleep around 7:30. I had planned to get up around 8:00 and leave by 8:30. I ended up pushing it back to an 8:30 wake up time for me and I let Q sleep until the last minute. We were out the door at nine.  She was a beast when she woke up.

We picked up Scout and Hazel to doggy daycare. Quinn usually loves the dogs. She was not amused.

Next, Quinn and I went to my classroom and worked for a couple of hours. Quinn was cranky, but eventually came around. I can't believe I officially go back to work on Thursday. Then, it was time to run some errands.  Lots of car photos today.

Quinn got an ice cream cone.

Dalan and Quinn play Legos every day. They used to build birds. Now they build mega-birds!

Piper relaxed.

I dropped a chair on my foot after dinner.
(This is exciting stuff!)

Quinn are some chocolate chips.

Quinn and I made key lime tarts that are dairy free, gluten free, and egg free. The crust/filling tasted good while I was making it. We'll see tomorrow after they are frozen.

Quinn wore some pajamas that are too small on top. The bottoms fit nicely. The top is way too small.

After Q went to bed, I fried up some bananas as a snack. Yum!

Game Night

Last night Dalan, Quinn, and I hosted a Monopoly  Unleashed party through houseparty.com. (Basically, companies place party packs with houseparty.com to promote new products. You apply to host parties that you are interested in, and then hope you are selected to host.) I applied for three parties and was picked for the Monopoly party to help promote the new cat game piece. We got Monopoly, Connect 4, Candyland, a Monopoly card game, tattoos, key chains, cups, and a dog bowl in our pack.

Quinn was so excited to be having a party, and was convinced her Muppet friends were going to attend. We prepared snacks and geared up to play a new version of Monopoly called Unleashed or cats vs dogs. We first divided our group into Team Spot- Dalan, VaRonica, Nathan, and LaDene, and Team Snowball 3- Patti, Ali, McKay, and me. (The grandpas played Candyland with Quinn.) (Sierra, Scott, Odessa, and Hazel joined us a little later.)  We listed some hilarious pet peeves about cats/ dogs, and then started our game. It was a lot of fun.  We need to do more game nights!

Here is to hoping for more fun times with our family and friends, and more party packs from houseparty.com.

Quinnie and Winnie- July 2013

I took these photos on July 23rd, and was not pleased with the results. I planned in taking some more for the traditional July comparisons, but never did. Oh well. We will make it worth with what pictures I did take.

Summer Days

We have also been having a lot of fun during the day.  I am so sad (and a little nervous) that the new school year is about to start.  Quinn and I spent a few hours in my classroom already, and it just solidified that summer break flew by this year!

We cleaned out our shed and Pete's cage. Ok, so this one wasn't so fun, but so necessary, and it felt good to get rid of the clutter!  Quinn loved petting Pete. She said he was cute and so soft.  (We might need to review what soft means.)

We went to the zoo with Ali.  Ali and McKay couldn't make it to Sunday dinner last week and Quinn was so sad. She missed them like crazy, and talked about inviting them to dinner all day on Monday. We had a blast at the zoo!  And then we ran some errands and went swimming too.

This should have gone on the "summer nights" post. Oh well. Quinn and I ran to Target with my mom. Quinn insisted on wearing this beach towel, because she was so cold. Then she found a luggage tag, and decided it was her map. She walked through Target like this. It was hilarious. And then so sad when it was time to put it back. She told us Target makes her sad.

Quinn and I love taking selfies. If you average our ages, we are 18.

Quinn got a bunch of hand-me-downs from our friends Laurel and Maddie. Quinn was so excited about her new clothes.

Quinn has been asking every single day to go to the beach. It is literally the last thing she says to me every night before she goes to bed. We knew we wouldn't be making it the ocean this summer, and debated about the local lakes- distance, beach access without a boat, etc. So we decided to try Blackridge Reservoir in Herriman. It was perfect for Quinn's beach needs. Sand for building sand castles, and water for splashing. It was nearly a perfect day, except Dalan got stung by a bee. The bees were terrible.

And finally some silliness from yesterday.
