Quinn's 5th Birthday

Quinn turned 5!  Don't ask me where time has gone, because I don't know, but here we are and our tiny 15 oz baby is now 5!

We had a great day on her birthday.  I took the day off, but she went to preschool and got to be the birthday girl and share a treat with her class.  While she was at school, I ran some errands, and sneaked in some snuggles with Olive Mae.

Dalan and I picked Quinn up from school, and dined at Chick-Fil-A for her birthday lunch.  She had a blast, as always, in the play place.  Next, we headed into the Sugarhouse/downtown area so Quinn could get her ears pierced.  She picked out some pretty blue jewels, and was all set.  The man who pierced her ears was so sweet and Quinn was a champ.  No tears, just a few flinches.  Then, it was time to pick up her birthday cake.  Her special Megamort birthday cake.  She was instantly in love! Seriously.

She then spent some time bouncing off the walls until her guests arrived.  Dalan's family was still sick!  (BOOOOOO!!!!)  We had hamburgers, and fries for dinners, and then opened gifts.  Quinn was so enthusiastic and grateful.  She wanted an Animal (from the Muppets) costume and some drums, so we got her the costume and my parents got her the drums.  She was so hilarious.  She also got some legos, Disney barbies, and some money.  Thanks everyone!

She was so excited to eat her cake.  It was great!  Her excitement was indescribably awesome.  Five year olds rule!

Word to your Mother

Mother's Day was fantastic. We had plans to go with both sides of the family to Cinderella park. But... Life had other plans. The Sellers/Littles were sick, sick, sick. And our crazy May weather was a bit on the chilly side for baby Olive. So, we shifted plans and ate at my mom and dad's house this year.

Quinn and Dalan surprised me with a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, and we had a really nice day. We went to a graduation day party at Nghia's. The afternoon/evening at my mom's was equally great!

I Can Make the Bad Guys Good for the Weekend

Quinn wanted a villains themed birthday party this year.  I loved the idea, but quickly found this wasn't a birthday party theme that was often picked by five year old girls.  So, I spent a lot of hours on Pinterest and Etsy and pieced together a pretty awesome villains party for Quinn.  I ended up finding lots of fun games and ideas, as well as, a cute skirt and hair bows for Quinn.

The only downside was the weather.  We invited 16 kids counting Quinn (11 came), and planned most of the activities to take place in our yard, but a rainy, rainy day forced us inside.

The guests had to walk the plank when they arrived, and we played Captain Hook ring toss while we waiting for everyone to arrive.  Dalan made both the plank and the ring toss and did an incredible job.  They looked awesome and were a big hit.

Next we got snacks, Captain Hook stole all the forks. so the kids has to stab their food with mini-cocktail swords.  We also had "poisoned" apple juice, and Ursula cookies.

Then it was time for more games.  We played Bad Guy Bowling with more poisoned apples, and toilet paper rolls with all the villains on them.  The kids each got a goodie bag to collect their fun prizes (the apples for this game) as we went.  Next we played Megamort's Shrink Rays and squirted more of the toilet paper rolls with water guns (which they kept), then was Maleficent's Dragon Pinata. And in the style of Ralunzel, we wacked the piƱata with a frying pan. We then had a Mirror, Mirror...on the Wall Scavenger Hunt.

It was then time for the Cruella's Cupcakes and to open presents.  Her friends were way too generous, and Quinn got lots of fun new toys and activities.

Finally, it was time for the special guest to arrive.  The Mistress of Evil herself- MALEFICENT!  The dark fairy came and read a story to the kids.  She was incredible.  The kids were captivated by her the entire time.  They loved her story, and the fun activities.  She was just the right amount of wickedness without being scary.  It was incredible!

Whew!  Another birthday party in the books!  We had a blast!
