Quinnie, Minnie, and Winnie

Here is the annual Quinnie and Minnie comparison.

And some of the outtakes...

I even tried twice.

And the biannual Winnie and Quinnie comparisons.

And the outtakes...

Again, I even tried twice.

Weekly Update

I feel bad that I never blog anymore!  Quinn is as funny as ever, and we are doing lots of fun things, so it is not lack of material. Just a lack of motivation.  I know one day I will print out some blog books and I will be so sad when the stories and pictures start to get less and less frequent.

Quinn and Alice had their first sleepover this month. They had so much fun. Quinn couldn't stop talking about it, and asking to do it again. I think we will have to start having cousin sleepovers on much more regular basis!

We celebrated Valentine's Day!  I braided a heart into Quinn's hair for her first ever school party!  She had a blast giving and getting Valentines from all her friends.

(Wow, look how much Quinn has grown up!)

Dalan got Quinn and I matching yellow Salt Water Sandals for Valentine's Day!  I am so excited about it!  Seriously, so excited!

I also ordered Quinn some Freshly Picked Moccs.  They are so cute, and I love how big kids, as well as, babies look in them. Plus it helps that Quinn's foot is the size of a two year old's foot. (Not a great photo. And yes, I am 34 years old, and rarely match my socks.)

Quinn loves to play with the vintage Fisher Price Little People (as well as the modern Little People at our house- basically, she loves Little People), and I recreated the Carlson Family from the early 1980's that I used to play with.... Sorry Ali- you weren't born yet, so no Ali Little Person.

We have done of fun activities, including dance parties in our living room and open gym time. Quinn has always been really nervous on the balance beam, but is getting so much braver.

Speaking of bravery and activities, we met the Vala's at the pool yesterday and both Quinn and Isaac went down the big slide all by themselves!

Quinn did it first, and Isaac's reaction was, "Well, I want to see her do it without a parent catching her at the bottom."  Ha!

Quinn was also just so much more comfortable and brave in the water in general. It is so much fun to watch her grow up and become a kid.

Dalan and McKay did some work at Ali and McKay's house. Quinn really wanted to help.

We played a lot of new games last night at my parents' house. Quinn's favorite was Red Rover, I think.  She is a nut, and we played her "version" rather the real way, but it worked since there was only four of us playing at a time. She also played a ton of board games too.

Oh, I darkened my hair. Quinn wanted to dye her hair too. I told when she was older.  Then about two minutes later, she busted into the bathroom declaring she was older now.

Other favorite Quinn stories....

1.  Quinn asked Ali what she and Mckay were doing in a picture this morning before school.

Ali said, "getting married!"

Quinn said, "I wanna get married to Megamort! He is a bad guy, but I love him! He takes me to the museum in his car! He is 5! I have my own car seat in his car!"

2.  Quinn- I want a cupcake.
Me- I don't think we have any.
Quinn- We have one left.
(Heads to the kitchen and returns with a handful of Starbursts.)
Quinn- You were right. We don't have any cupcakes. But I found all this candy instead.

3.  Quinn is trying to get Dalan to eat a Jammy Sammy (it's a breakfast bar type of snack) with the promise it is gluten free.

Quinn- Catch Up

Quinn has been so damn funny lately.  She constantly has us all laughing.

1.  I am not sad that it's bedtime. Just disappointed.

2.  Q- I am going to pull down your pants.
Me- Quinn, that's not appropriate.
Q- It sure is appropriate.

3.  Me- Piper!  Stop it!  (She was licking the carpet.)
Q- What is she doing?
Me- Being annoying.
Q- I am annoying.
Me- No you're not. You don't lick the carpet.
Q- (licks me). I am annoying too.

4.  Quinn's morning pep talk, "I cried at preschool..... But I am going back for another day! I made myself cry! Ali drops me off and dad picks me up. I will tell him no more crying."

5.  Quinn- Mom! Stop talking! You aren't funny.
(I stop talking.)
Mom!
Mom!
Mom!

Me- what?

Quinn- I want you to stop talking!

And now for some photos.

At the U of U gymnastics meet.

Illness

Quinn has gotten sick about once a month since starting preschool.  We knew it was going to happen, but it doesn't make it suck any less. She started to cough about a week and a half ago- right on schedule.  In general, she has the same symptoms each time, a cough and a runny nose.  This time started off the same.  And it seemed to run the same 5 day course.

All the while, Quinn's little personality was changing.  She got extremely bossy, and grumpy.  We started calling her "her ladyship" on a regular basis.  I was thinking, wow this is quite the phase she is going through, all while reminding myself, no one is expected to be happy all the time. And all kids need to develop independence.  Oh, and she also started peeing her pants again, but was battling some nasty constipation.  In part, I contributed some of her behavior to an upset belly.

Then, she started waking up in the middle of the night. And she was a beast.  The only thing that would calm her was giving her Tylenol.  I was still thinking she was having some belly issues, but then she FINALLY told me, it was her ears. So, off to the doctor we went.  And it was her ears. Both ears. The doctor told her that her ears "stink." Quinn agreed and said they were "way pew- ew-y."

And let me tell you, the antibiotics were miracle workers.  Within hours, our sweet Quinn was back. Her ladyship was gone. She, of course, still has moments of bossiness or grumpiness, but that is part of being three (and a human.) She also started peeing in the potty again.  (And we also tackled the belly issues too with some hefty doses of Miralax.) Hooray!

I have had a sinus infection (?) that won't go away. No miracle antibiotics for me.  During my last round of antibiotics, I got some small cold sores.  Boo!  During this round of antibiotics, I got a huge cold sore, that has taken over my whole lip.  Again!  Seriously!  I am hideous again.  I hate it so bad.

Maybe, we need some on-going  healing/healthy vibes sent this way.  And some bleach.

Favorite Quinn Stories (from this week, anyway)

Ali has been helping out with preschool drop off some morning.  I dropped Quinn off there the other morning.  Ali had just gotten out of the shower, and was wearing sweatpants and a full coverage tank top.

Quinn-  Ali!  Why are you all nakedy.
Ali- I am not.
Quinn- I can see your boobs!
Ali- No, you can't. I am wearing a tank top.
Quinn- Oh, yous in yous swimsuit.

Apparently, we are raising a little Puritan.

Dalan picked up Quinn from preschool, and she noticed the flag was not out that day.

Quinn- The flag is missing.
Dalan- Yep.
Quinn- Where did it go?
Dalan- I don't know.
Quinn- Maybe Mega-Mort took it.  (Her favorite bad guy.)
Dalan- Maybe.
Quinn- We should go ask mom if she knows.

Last night Quinn was sitting on her knees watching videos at my parents' house. Then it was time to eat dinner.

Quinn- Mom!  My foot it is all itchy and sparkly.
Me- Huh? Oh, I think your foot feel asleep.
Quinn- It is all itchy and sparkly.

And tonight...

Us- Quinn, what do you want to do tomorrow?
Quinn- Go to the zoo.
Us- It is too cold.
Quinn-  Maybe Cole could take me... And Mike.

(Quinn went to work with Cole on Monday, and met his co-worker, Mike. She is semi-convinced he might be Mike from Monsters Inc.).
