Happenings

We have been doing a lot of fun things, and keeping busy with activities and super hot days. Summer is quickly coming to an end for me, as the school year starts early (and ended late) this year!  (Speaking of which, I had another school nightmare- it was the first day of school at my new school, AND it was Halloween, AND I was totally unprepared.)

This last week, we clean out the playroom (which doubles as our storage room sometimes), went to the library, saw a movie, ran errands, visited my nana, I volunteered at the NICU, Quinn had gymnastics, and she went to the dentist, went swimming, woke up at 4 am, rode Trax, went to Discovery Gateway, played in a fountain, went on a tour of the new public safety building, ate at our favorite bakery, and I went to the Real game. Oh, and Dalan worked 50 plus hours.

Saturday

We were going to go on a walk around Silver Lake, but as we were getting ready to go, it started pouring rain. We shifted plans, and headed to Scheels, since we knew with her platform sandals and some piggy tails, Quinn could finally ride the Ferris Wheel.

We walked around the store for a bit after.  When Quinn saw the big bear, she still wouldn't get near it, but was excited, because, "it looks kinda like Sully!"

Next, we headed to Costco for some much needed items. Quinn wanted a hotdog. While we were waiting in line she told me, "I get a hotdog. Grandma gets pizza."  We may take too many trips to Costco with my mom and we might always stick to the same menu items. Ha!

While Quinn was eating her hotdog, she turned around and pointed to the lady behind us and told Dalan, "she kinda looks like Goldie Locks and the three bears!"  Ha ha.

Quinn was feeling pretty casual as we left.

Later in the evening, it rained some more and we headed to the grocery store to pick up some more much needed items. The rain stopped, so we took Quinn over to the fountain. There was a rainbow and some other kids playing in the puddles. She had so much fun.

12 for 12 (July) (I remembered!)

1.  Quinn woke up at 3 am. I finally have in and brought her downstairs at 6 am. I asked her why she wasn't tired, and said, "I am just happy." She also ate some chocolate chips for breakfast because I didn't want to argue. Parenting.

2. She fell back asleep at 1015 with just her head against by body. We were playing kitty, and I was giving her scratches.

3.  I put her in her bed, and jumped in the shower, and Dalan went in and slept with her. It was so sweet.

4.  She woke up, only to fall asleep again. We surrounded her with technology.

5.  Next we headed to Trader Joe's. We let Q have a mini cart. She was a maniac. She had no intention of steering it, and was throwing food into faster than we could stop her.

6.  We headed to a bakery that specializes in allergen free goods called City Cakes. Everything is dairy free, and then they have gluten free and vegan things on top of that. Dalan ate his first donut in more than 6 months.

7.  Dalan and Quinn posing with their treats.

8.  Quinn got a cupcake. And really only wanted the frosting.

9.  Quinn slept over at Ali and McKay's and went to Build a Bear for the first time. Dalan and I are homemade Indian food and then went mini- golfing.

10.  We were so proud that we both only took two tries to get the ball in the hole. Double deuces!

11.  Then Dalan got a hole in one!!!!

12.  And we finished up the night up at the batting cages.

"Lagoon is so fun"

"Lagoon is so fun," is what Quinn told my mom and me as we headed home from a hot, but very fun day at the amusement park.

Quinn was a little daredevil. She also told us on the way home, "roller coasters are too fast. I love roller coasters."  She went on Bombora EIGHT times. She would have spent all day on it. She also went on the kid's version of the rocket twice and called the Terror Ride- a silly ride.

It's a good thing I put her in her Lagoon shoes, and did Lagoon hair. All her favorite rides required her to be 36 inches, and I knew she wasn't quite there, but between the shoes and the hair, we were able to get on all the cool rides.

However, she was also a little clingy monkey, and after not loving the bumper cars, decided she would not leave my side. AT ALL. If I wandered more than three feet away, there were tears. And lots of them. There were also lots of tears when she was told it was time for dinner or that mommy was feeling a little sick from riding the same ride over and over.

After dinner, we meet up with my mom's friend Becky and her adorable granddaughters. Quinn loved the girls, and was happy to ride the rides with them without me!  Hooray. Although, when they left, so did Quinn's independence. She insisted I take her on the merry go round rather than my mom. Once we got on the ride, she kept saying, "Mommy ride" over and over. I kept telling her I was on the ride. Finally, she pointed and yelled, "get on the goose!" Oh, I needed to ride an animal.

Patti went home empty handed from the raffle. Boo to that. Hopefully, her good luck returns next year!

(Crying- because I am not on the ride.)
