Playground

If you have been around Quinn lately, you have heard her beg to go to the playground repeatedly (or to watch Monsters) (or the wedding special- to go to the swimmin' pool).

We go like 4-7 times a week. She loves it. It keeps her busy and happy. It teaches her gross motor skills as well as problem solving. So, most of the time we are happy to take her. Although the begging gets tiresome.

She loves the slides, climbing, and getting under "animals" on the swings. Under dogs are ok, but under chickens are the best.

First Weekend in June

I am still playing catch up. We have been so busy and doing so many fun things, I just can't keep on top of the blog (or anything- see my previous post about house keeping or the fact I haven't written most of my thank you cards from May- Urgh).

So, let's take a little trip back in time....

June 1- we had soccer in the morning. It was Quinn's best game to date. She has a small attention span for it, and cannot maintain her interest for the whole hour. Next we went to the summer reading kick off for the library. It was so much fun!  They had a ton of booths, bounce houses, and a train. We stayed for about three hours!

Quinn says Darth Vader is a "silly robot, not scary."

June 2- we met the usual suspects downtown for the Pride Parade. Dalan skipped out this year to get some much needed rest. It was hot as usual, and just as much fun!  And then we came home and Quinn cooled off by playing in the water table and eating lunch on the lanai.

My (Not So) Secret Confession

I hate house work. I just do. I get little satisfaction out of a clean house, and I am just as happy sitting in a mess as I am in a tidy house.

I make a lot of excuses- I work full time, I have a three year old, I try my best, etc But those all just excuses.

And I don't really try my best. If house cleaning was a school subject, I would fail.  And the teacher's comments would say, "Jessica has a lot of potential, but she lacks serious motivation. She is often off task and not focused. She is capable of better/more work."

I often feel guilty about my messes. Not guilty enough to change, just guilty enough to beat myself up about it at midnight when the laundry still isn't put away and I have wasted another evening.

Wait, I take that back.  Some evenings are wasted, but most are spent with my family. And that will always win over cleaning. (But so will a Friends marathon or just about anything else that does not involve a vacuum or a mop.)

So, there you go. My name is Jessica, and I suck at house work.

Liberty Park and Hogle Zoo

Last weekend, we took advantage of the lovely weather and hit up two favorite spots in the valley.

On Saturday, we headed to Liberty Park. First stop was the aviary. It was a lot of fun, and we all enjoyed seeing the birds and walking around. We were going to go to the splash park next, but it was not open. So, we did the rides instead. We had never done them before, and Quinn had a blast. We will be going back for sure.

On Sunday, we went to the zoo with Sierra, Scott, Odessa, and Hazel. Again the weather was perfect, and we had a really nice time. All three girls were very well behaved (Hazel was the best!  But Q and O did well too!). We hope for more zoo trips with friends and family all summer long!
